Finding the voice
It's six o'clock in Sunday morning. The reason I stayed up so late (or early) is, yes, for sure, I was writing. I thought I found the voice of my main character in my head and couldn't stop once I started writing in her voice. Not because I was so involved but because I didn't want to lose her voice again. It's always hard to find the right voice in my head, for there are so many others I got from reading too many stories that I have to read for classes. They are strong voices and strong stories. The small voice of my own characters can easily be lost among them. It's funny, once I find the character, I feel like she's always in myself, doing something, living her life, but when I try to hear her voice, what she has to say and how, it's kinda hard. I need not only to listen but also to coax her into talking. Maybe I should wait till she starts to speak, but when you are in a writing program, you don't really have time to wait!
